At the beginning of 2020, the pneumonia epidemic caused by the coronavirus(COVID-19) was on the upswing. As a "first line of defense" for personal hygiene protection, masks have become an important "weapon" for the prevention and containment of the virus outbreak. However, due to the sharp increase in the demand for masks, just a few days before the China’s Lunar New Year holiday, masks were in “scarcity” situation in various markets in China.

Masks are typical medical products of polymer materials. At the critical moment of national epidemic prevention and containment, as an expert in the field of advanced manufacturing of polymer products, Professor Qu Jinping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the National Engineering Research Center of SCUT(The South China University of Technology) for Polymer New Forming Equipment, during China’s Lunar New Year holiday, together with POTOP urgently planned and deployed to set up an industry-university-research team to carry out the mission to develop mask making machine in high standard and efficiency to solve the urgent need for epidemic prevention and containment.

The team made concerted efforts and strived for the first. With the R&D strength and manufacturing experience in polymer processing equipment, they completed the three-dimensional design task of the fully automatic mask making machine in only one week, and completed production of 25 sets of the mask making machines within one month after resumption of work. The mask making machines can be quickly put into use due to the advantages of high-degree automation, stable and easy operation. With the spread of the virus in the world, orders for mask making machines are still increasing. POTOP team still insist on “speedy delivery with quality" to provide services to industry needs.
